Restart problem

Hello,

I am running a series of simulations which were running well until the last restart. With the most recent restart, when I wish to restart the program immediately stops and gives this error message:

forrtl: severe (64): input conversion error, unit 1, file C:\.....

I should note that normally I use Petrasim which in this case prints no error messages into runlog.out and flow.out. The message above appears only when I run Toughreact from command prompt. Neither of the methods manages to produce a chdump file.

Here is what I have done:

Start: A model at 200C consisting of one fracture and adjacent matrix is allowed to stabilize for 10 days (simulation runs relatively fast).

Restart 1: 65 C water is injected into the fracture for 10 days (a production well is also in the model) (much faster simulation than initial run and all mineral reactions occur as expected).

Restart 2: 65 C water with added chemicals is injected into the fracture for 90 days (same pace as in Restart 1 and mineral reactions occur as expected).

Restart 3: The same water as in Restart 1 should be pumped into the system but here is where the crash occurs.

ps. I should note that the only thing I do prior to restart 3 is to a) use the water from Restart 1, b) load in the files from restart 2 and c)define new final time and printout times.

psps. The restart 2 has been run with few types of input solutions (including the same water as in restart 1 and all simulations last similar amount of time.

Any advise would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks, Bergur

    Hi Bergur,

    Just a quick, wild guess:

Please check the last line of the SAVE/INCON file you use for restart. You may have some "*****" there because the total number of NR iterations is too large. If so, replace them by blanks and try again.

If it does not help, please share your INCON file with the Forum community, as the error occurs while reading that file.

    Hello,

Yes, this does the trick when I run the simulation from command prompt. However, Petrasim, creates the INCON file again when I start the simulation so it crashes. I will contact the developers regarding that issue.

Thanks a lot for your quick response and help.
