About the design of boundary

Hi, everyone,

I'm working on setting the boundary conditions for no flow and constant pressure in a model using TOUGHREACT v1.2 ECO2N. I have two questions:

  1. For the no flow boundary condition, I set the mass outflow to 0.0 kg/s under Sources/Sinks -> Production -> Mass Out in PetraSim. Is this approach correct?

  2. For the constant pressure boundary condition, I want the fluid to be discharged from the boundary. To achieve this, I set the pressure to 0 (P = 0). Is this the correct way to configure it? Or do I also need to set the outflow boundary explicitly using Sources/Sinks?

Thank you very much for your guidance and support!

For the no flow boundary no actions are required.

For che constant P boundary you should assign as initial condition the required P and assign a numerically infinte volume to the grid element. In Petrasim you should define the element as a Fixed State element.

In this way all the initial conditions will remain constant, not only the pressure.

In both cases you may consider which is the most appropriate geometry for the elements used either as constant P or no flow boundaries, as the element conditions are of course related to the location of grid node.

    Regards,

    Alfredo
