Implementing meteoric recharge into atmospheric boundary condition?
Hi all,
Does anyone have a recommended method for specifying different rates of meteoric recharge to TOUGH2 models? Would specifying different air:water ratios in the atmospheric block work?
Thanks,
Hamish

Dear Hamish,
The usual way (for me) is to use the GENER block and give a time-dependent infiltration rate into the top rock block (or soil) that has a "normal" volume, with an overlying atmospheric grid block having >10^50 volume and only air attached to the rock block. Make sure the atmospheric grid block has zero capillary pressure so that it does not imbibe water out of the rock block you are injecting water.

Eric

Dear Hamish,
What Eric proposes is described in more detail in:
http://esd1.lbl.gov/files/research/projects/tough/support/atmo-boundary-condition.pdf
which can be found right here on the TOUGH Forum under "Help Articles", "TOUGH Tips&Tricks", along with other useful information.
