Whether can TOUGH2 be used to simulate DNAPL spill (non volatile) in the vadose zone (non volatile oil, water and air phases)?
Hello everyone,
I am trying to find a simulator that can simulate DNAPL spill in the vadose zone. The DNAPL is not volatile, but it can be dissolve into water. I will consider recharge at the top boundary and groundwater flow in the saturated zone. I am not sure whether TOUGH2 or TMVOC can be used to approach my goals. If you know it, please let me know. Thank you very much! I appreciate your help!

Hi Fang,
Both T2VOC (for a single VOC component) and TMVOC (if you want multiple VOC components) can simulate a DNAPL spill in the vadose zone and dissolution in the aqueous phase. I recommend you check out the T2VOC and TMVOC manuals (freely downloadable at http://esd.lbl.gov/research/projects/tough/documentation/manuals.html) and the numerous related conference and journal articles (http://esd.lbl.gov/research/projects/tough/documentation/).

Hi Stefan,
Thank you very much! I read the manuals you suggested. Yes, you are right and I can do it using TMVOC. Thank you again.
