Injection of different components with different densities (Soltrol into Glycerol-water)
Hello everyone,
I want to use iTOUGH2 to simulate an injection experiment where the surrogate fluids mimic the density and viscosity contrasts of supercritical CO2 and brine under a deep reservoir condition. The properties of the surrogate fluids are presented in the table below.
the experiment is at constant temperature.
I want to know how could specify the hydraulic properties in the Code and wich is the most adequate EOS to use (EOS2, ECO2N ) ?

Abdellah,
ECO2N may be the natural option, as it has the thermophysical properties of brine and supercritical CO2 built in. However, your surrogate fluids under ambient conditions may not allow to mimic the precise combinations of CO2 densities and viscosities under reservoir conditions (which you have not given).
I recommend you set up an ECO2N model consisting of a single element, then set appropriate initial conditions for pressure, temperature, and NaCl mass fraction, then run a single time step to see what the densities and viscosities of the two phases are (you get these values by setting MOP(5)>0 in the PARAM block, or by making use of the iTOUGH2 command > OBSERVATION, >> SECONDARY). Adjust initial conditions until you are close enough to the properties of your surrogate system.
Good luck!
