Cauchy/Type III Boundary Condition

Hello,

Is it possible to apply a head dependent boundary condition, where flux is a function of head difference between a cell and some prescribed value? I tried using the productivity index to do this, but I'm not confident in the result since this method is intended for wells, not (necessarily) boundaries.

Thank you,

Amy

Does anyone have an answer for this? It's important for my research. Would it help if I gave more information?

    Thank you,

    Amy

    Amy,

Try to represent the actual geometrical and physical conditions that lead to the Cauchy boundary.

Depending on your application, you may want to add a thin extra element between the model domain and the Dirichlet boundary element, and assign it an appropriate "conductance" (typically a relatively small permeability).

    Could this work?

    Stefan,

I tried a few variations on this suggestion and found one that will work. Thank you for the help!
