Can't read MESH properly
Hi everyone,
I am facing the problem when running iTOUGH2. The program can't read mesh (minimum X-Y coordinate) properly based on the TOUGH2 model that I exported from Petrasim software. When I checked in .out file, I found suggestions to increase variable MCOORDNUM in my TOUGH2/iTOUGH2 file. I didn't find it in the iTOUGH2 user guide or command reference. I would greatly appreciate it if anyone can help to solve this problem.

Hi Rivan,
First, I don't know exactly what PetraSim does and which version of iTOUGH2 it supports. But here are some comments:
(1) The X=0.0 and Y=0.0 are likely correct. Please check the MESH file and look for elements with these minimum X and Y coordinates. These coordinates could be from special elements connected to multiple boundary elements (e.g., to implement atmospheric boundary conditions). I don't know whether PetraSim supports that (but I use it all the time). Just set MOP(7)=9 and then check the mesh information as printed to the output file.
(2) The error message about the coordinate number is indeed a bit strange (i.e., that 5 is greater than 6). But this message occurs if you have a single element connected to many others (typically 6 in a 3D structured mesh), again indicating that a special element is used to specify boundary conditions. It only occurs if you request FTAG or flow rates in the OUTPU block. Increase MCOORNUM in block DIMEN.2, as instructed in the error message and as described in Section 2.5 of the manual https://www.finsterle-geoconsulting.com/s/TOUGH2-In-iTOUGH2_Enhancements.pdf.
Good luck!
