Problem with building heterogeneous CO2 storage model

Hi all,

I need to build a CO2 storage model with heterogeneous permeability field using TOUGH2/ECO2N. I built a homogeneous model first and it could be ran successfully. However, when I incorporated the permeability heterogeneity by specifying permeability modifiers, the time step became smaller and smaller and the simulation halted prematurely. I tried to increase the permeabilty of cells near the injection well, but the problem remained.

What could be the causes?

    Please always include the output file if it is not too big.   Otherwise, we can only guess what you did or didn't do. Thanks.
