Exothermic reactions

Hello,  

I was wondering if it is possible to simulate exothermic reactions with ToughReact? And in yes how to do that? Is there an example or a paper describing this?

    Hi Pierre,

    Yes, there is an option to simulate heats of reaction from chemistry coupled to energy conservation. You must use one of the "normal" thermodynamic databases (e.g., thermoddem or eq3/6). I've tested on a number of problems, but for normal geothermal problems the effect is small. For olivine reaction it can be very large, and may be difficult to converge.

    It is described in the manual.
