Mesh Creation

Hi everyone. I recently started learning ToughReact. I’m trying to learn Mesh creation from scratch and how to create a 1D or 2D mesh.

how to I go about this? What resources are available?

    Hi Uzoma,

We have a new online MESH and input file generator toughio-dash you can try out:

    https://toughio-dash.lbl.gov

I have only tried it a few times, and person who wrote it has now left, but I think it definitely works at least for the basic MESH and some of the input files.

There are also several tools you can find here:

    https://tough.lbl.gov/pre-and-post-processors/

AMESH is particularly useful for creating Voronoi mesh files.

It's quite easy to build simple mesh files in EXCEL or by writing a program in whatever language you may know. It may seem a little daunting, but it is basic geometry of the volumes, centers, distances, and areas. You can check your formatting by comparing the MESH files in the sample problems. The meshmaker utility described in the TOUGH2 manual will also create a wide variety of MESH files, and is particular useful for radial grids and MINC.

Hi Eric, Sorry for the late reply. I started learning ToughReact from scratch last month, and have been learning how to run simulations, what parameters to change and how to and visualize data. I have made progress, but most of it still seems vague to me. From this week, I have started to learn mesh creation, hence, I am replying. I have checked out both links, but I still need help. Is there perhaps a video I could watch? Also, feel free to talk to me like you are speaking to a complete novice

    Hi all,

I successfully ran some examples from the Tough3 package. Now, I am in the stage of processing - visualization. I have been stuck with the MESH file created by internal MeshMaker. I would like to see the results in Pyvista however I read the MESH file but I can not visualize it yet because the format file is Tough format. Do you know how I could convert the MESH file to a format that can be visualized in python? I tried with tough-export in Ubuntu terminal but no results. Could you please help me with it?.

    Thank you in advance.
