use of MINC file in subsequent simulations

Dear all,

I want to create a MINC file and use it in subsequent flow simulations. However, if I put the MESH and MINC file in the relevant folder, the simulation only uses the MESH file. How do I 'call' the MINC file in flow.inp?

Thanks in advance!

If you have already created the MINC file, just rename the MINC to MESH.

    Dear George,

Thank you for your response! I indeed tried to rename the MINC file, or just copy paste the mesh in the flow.inp, which works (the model runs). However, in the output file from the subsequent run I cannot find evidence that the mesh is treated as MINC; that the software recognizes fractures and matrix and uses the appropriate flow equations. Also, the mesh does not give any information on the type of flow (double-porosity, dual-permeability), this needs to be specified in the MINC data block in the input file. But if I insert a new MINC data block in the second simulation, the MINC mesh is re-MINCed! Do you know how that works?

    Thanks!

    HI Marielle,

The MINC-related information is now contained within the newly created MINC file, as reflected by the newly created elements and connections compared to the original MESH, together with the associated rock properties.  So, there is no need to have the MINC block anymore in the input file unless you want to change the properties of the MINC data block.  If that's the case, you will need to regenerate the MINC file by using the original MESH file.

    Hi George,

Thank you very much for the information! I got the model running!
