Zero flux conditions

Hello everyone ,

Could someone explain to me how to impose the zero flux conditions in a generic domain?

Thank you.

    Barbara,

Do nothing! The boundaries of your model domain are by default no-flow boundaries, unless you connect them to large-volume (or inactive) boundary elements, which is the method used to specify a Dirichlet boundary condition.

    Thank you Stefan,

    Now I understand my mistakes.

But I have a doubt concerning the use of the inactive cells.

I have seen the EOS7R Sample Problem of TOUGH Short Course.

In this simulation the inactive conditions were imposed in the upper layer of the model in order to create the hydrostatic profile. Why? What is the fisical meaning of this boundary condition?

    Thank You.

    Barbara,

Inactive elements (or elements with a very large volume) are used to specify a Dirichlet (or first-type) boundary condition, i.e., to fix the primary variables (pressure, saturation, concentration, temperature,...) at that boundary.
