perm. factor

dear all,

I want to ask the "perm. factor"  in "set cell data",

(ex: I want the domain area's K field mean=1E-13 and standard deviation=1E-14)

Does it means that I can use Excel to generate a random number in normal distribution

=NORMINV(RAND(),1E-13,1E-14)

and put the result from excel to pertasim

or I should type

=NORMINV(RAND(),1, 0.1) as a product in excel and put the result to pertasim set cell data list

and the material's permeability already be 1E-13

I'm not sure which one is right, can anyone tell me the answer, thank you :)

(p.s sorry about my poor english)

    Mathew,

    For PetraSim specific question, please go to the Discussion Forum hosted by RockWare.

    In standard TOUGH2, you have to specify a permeability modifier (PMX) in block ELEME, not the permeability itself. So your second approach seems more appropriate. Also note that if you want to generate random fields that are spatially uncorrelated, use the built-in capabilities of TOUGH2 directly (see Sections 7.5 and 9.11 in the TOUGH2 User's Guide), i.e., there is no need to generate the field externally using EXCEL and then map it onto the ELEME block. Finally, should you have iTOUGH2, you can also internally generate spatially correlated property fields - see the report iTOUGH2-GSLIB User's Guide.

    Hope this helps,

    Stefan
