T2Well (modeling nozzle/Plug in wellbore)
Hi everyone,
I have question about ROCKS data block in T2Well. According to the manual, the domain of grid cells that start with "x" indicates wellbore cells filled with porous medium or consisting of a bundle of smaller tubes. Can anyone clarify the usage of that data type ? Suppose that the diameter of wellbore is 0.24 m, and I would like to imply nozzle with 0.024 m diameter, how should the ROCKS data be? Following the manual, I have used the following
ROCKS----1----*----2----*----3----*----4----*----5----*----6----*----7----*----8
xplug 2 2600.e00 1.0000 1.00e+00 200.0e-9 200.0e-9 2.51 920.
where 1.00e+00 should be the scaling factor (1/100.0) in this case. I used the above input data, however I find problem with the obtained results.

I have made three cases following the instructions in the manual (page 27 - part a) for using 'x' rock to model restriction/nozzle in wellbore. Below are three cases in which PER(1) has different values (1, 0.01, 100) to change the effective diameter for fluid flow in wellbore at grid cell "A1G92".
in the ROCKS section, the following material type is defined for each case:
1. PER(1) = 1:
--------
xplug 2 2600.e00 1.0000 5.000e-2 200.0e-9 200.0e-9 3.00 1000.
0.0e-10
7 .457 .05 1. .05
8---------
2. PER(2) = 0.01:
---------
xplug 2 2600.e00 1.0e-2 5.000e-2 200.0e-9 200.0e-9 3.00 1000.
0.0e-10
7 .457 .05 1. .05
8---------
3. PER(2) = 100:
---------
xplug 2 2600.e00 1.0e+2 5.000e-2 200.0e-9 200.0e-9 3.00 1000.
0.0e-10
7 .457 .05 1. .05
8In the element section, the material is specified for the cell that should have the restriction.
A1G92 xplug2.0011e-01 3.991e-02 0.000e+00-1.995e+03
I have obtained identical results for pressure above the grid cell "A1G92" for the three cases. I have followed exactly the instructions in the manual, however no difference in the results is obtained. I hope anyone can clarify how this keyword, "x" material, is used in T2Well.
