Non-isothermal models in EOS 7C
Hi All,
I was trying to run the example 2 model that is included in TOUGH 2-EOS7C under a high temperature and pressure condition (100C and 30MPa) using the non-isothermal option. The simulation fails few seconds after the start of the simulation. However, if i run it in isothermal mode, it runs completely without any errors.
Please can anyone let me know what is making the simulation to fail for the non-isothermal simulation of natural production phase (under high temperature and pressure) while using TOUGH2-EOS 7C.
The screenshot attached shows the error message in the TOUGH2 output file.

Chima,
It appears your simulation is approaching steady state. You have automatic time step control enabled, and two successive time steps required no changes to the variables to achieve sufficient convergence. This is explained in the TOUGH2 User's Guide ( http://esd1.lbl.gov/FILES/research/projects/tough/documentation/TOUGH2_V2_Users_Guide.pdf ), page 10.
Is it possible you didn't establish your boundary/initial conditions properly? For example, if you did not include any elements with initial thermodynamic variables (pressure and temperature) that differ from the rest of the domain, I'd expect the simulation to terminate after a small number of time steps.
Hope this helps!

Thanks, it helped. I played around with the boundary conditions and it worked.

Chima Ezekiel Terriric! I'm glad you got it working.
