2 versus 3 phase relative permeability

Hi,

I hope I can get some clarity on this issue. When you use 2 phase relative permeability to represent a 3-phase situation (for example water, CO2 gas and CO2 liquid in ECO2M), how does Tough3 handle displacement of water by liquid CO2 right over or at the saturation curve, does it assign equal values for relative permeability to those 2 phases at any given water saturation?

Thanks.

In TOUGH3, when a two-phase relative permeability function is used for ECO2M simulations, the same relative permeability value is applied to both relp_g and relp_l. This value is computed solely as a function of sa. Consequently, the gas and liquid phase saturations are both taken as 1.0−sa, regardless of the actual values of sg and sl
